The Perfect Child

Christopher and Hannah have everything they want: prestigious careers, loving marriage and seemingly perfect lives. All that's missing is a child. So when a six-year-old turns up at the hospital abandoned, Christopher sees it as a sign. The child is malnourished, dehydrated, with multiple fractures and in need of love. He forms an immediate connection, convincing Hannah to take the little girl home.

Little Janie is a damaged manipulative child. She is an angel in Christopher's eyes but Hannah sees her disturbing ways. Calling the child difficult is an understatement! The shift in family dynamic will either tear them apart or save their lives. Sound familiar? Because the story line has been explored before in movies (Orphan) and books (Baby Teeth).

Page-turning it was not. Unless you count the urge to turn pages and skim just to "finish" the book and discover a half-ass ending. Whew! But I am in the minority far as negative reviews; The Perfect Child has over 4,000 positive reviews so take my opinion with a grain of sea salt and cracked black pepper.
