Life is a fairy tale for Mireille Duval Jameson. She is the daughter of one of Haiti's richest sons, married to a doting husband and mother to an adorable baby boy. An Untamed State is on another literary level. This is probably the first book ever to haunt me. I think of the main character often. I think of the fear, betrayal, desperation and hope she must have felt. I wonder is it truly fiction or has some woman somewhere had a similar tragedy? Will governments ever not be corrupt? Will there always be a huge divide between privilege and poverty? I want to hug the author just thinking of the mental state she was in while writing this tale that needed to be told. I wonder if I have the courage to re-read it someday. But today, bookhearts, all I can do is recommend you read An Untamed State.
