The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes

In 1977, the Governor's pregnant wife was kidnapped. It was a crazy, dangerous and ill thought out plan. No Plan B was discussed if Plan A failed. Her remains were discovered 20 years later. Tim Gleason is charged with murder. And a search begins for the unborn child.

Eve Elliott is the proud, yet overprotective mother of Cory. She is faced with the decision to either let Tim Gleason be sentenced to the death penalty, or come forward with valuable information about a crime that happened over 20 years ago. Eve knows that Tim is innocent. Why? Because she was there. And Eve also knows where the unborn child is. Why? Because she raised the baby girl as her own daughter. You see, Eve Elliott used to be CeeCee Wilkes.

What a tangled web this tale weaved! Even though the novel is lengthy with 71 chapters and 493 pages long, it was a page-turner. This was definitely the type of story that pulled at my heart strings, especially at the end. The characters were so well-developed that they will stay in my mind long after I've turned that last page.

I cannot believe this marvelous novel has been sitting unnoticed by me on a bookshelf for 6 years! A huge thanks to the Chick Lit Book Club for it being our chosen BOTM. Don't let it sit a second longer if you haven't read it yet. Seriously, pick it up and read now! Then come find me and share your thoughts.

There is an art to story telling; Diane Chamberlain mastered it. I totally blame her for my not being productive for two days straight because I couldn't put The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes down. Chamberlain's other works are about confessions, lies and secrets. I am now a fan!
